I seem to have a fungus on my maple saplings and am very concerned about losing the trees. Ontario has banned fungicides so I need a spray that is eco friendly any suggestions???? would just soap and water do?
here are some photos.

Jerome there are a few Bio fungucides on the market. One is called Zonix or something like that for ornamental trees. Run a google search for Bio fungicides for trees. Also ask at a large nursery if they have any suggestions.
What does this fungus look like by the way. A lot of my trees get a lichen like growth on the trunks around here. They are big trees so I would say it dosn't hurt them much.

That is great site!!! I will keep that one for further use. We have holly bushes in the front of the house that got a fungus my wife did the research and sent some photos I think she may have have sent it to NH horticultural society. we used a fungicide 3 times weekly and cut back all of the infected growth and rake and destroy all of the leaves mulch etc from the base, but that was a bush not a maple tree. so obviously its a much bigger scale. is it on one tree or is it scattered throughout? I would check with a horticulturalist before you do anything drastic. but cleaning up around the base of the trees would be a step in right direction. good luck

that is a great site thanks.
It looks like I'm out of luck for now hopefully by keeping everything clean I can beat it.

I have seen this on small maple saplings in years past. If I remember right it was a one year deal. The new leaves the following year were clean. There was no long term damage to the tree in my case. They had the same look as your photo's but some of them had pimples on them as well.

I do have some of that around but I believe it is because it has been so wet it is just now finally drying out but it is only on the smaller trees. We had rain down here for weeks I didn't think summer would ever get here.
