Medical RO

Has anybody used RO's from the medical industry. Apparently these are used for dialysis. What is GPH? Some are on the internet for $200-$900.

Any experience would help.

They would be such low gph it would not be useable. Most people only have about 12 quarts of blood or something like that.

These are used for the water used in dialysis not for the blood, so the amount of blood a person has does not come into play.

Cobe Centry 2 reverse osmosis water purification systems. Feed water to dialysis machines. Permeate rate: 19 gph, concentrate rate 54 gph, max. final pressure 240 psi. Wired for 115 VAC. With pump, valve, on/off switch and hoses, 4 exchange cylinders.

! I don't know alot about RO's,But will be interested in what people have to say about these. If they would work at all,I think they are for the small producer. Jim L.

Just a guess about the cost of almost any thing in the medical industry I doubt that these are any less expensive than the small units available from the maple dealers. Also, are membranes compatible? ???

Assuming that the Cobe Century 2 gives a flow rate of Permeate at 19gph and Concentrate at 54gph; or a total flow rate of about 75 gph, the efficiency of the Cobe is less than about 1/2 of what a Springtech for example is and I doubt the price is anywhere 1/2 the Springtech.

i don,t know if it should but hearing about guys using medical industry used equipment worrys me.is that anyway blood/body fluids could get in this equipment and cross over into the sap/syrup?? all we need is something like that to happen and a bunch of people get sick and/or die

I know anything is possible but do you know how hard it is to scrap out used medical equipment to the general public that has come in contact with body fluids let alone a complete unit. Equipment that is up stream of a patiant is differant than one that is down stream.
