My plans are a bit firmer, and I have a pretty good idea of how much mainline I'll need.

I've heard it said on here before that nobody has to pay catalog prices, but I've never found anyone to sell me supplies at less than catalog prices.

When I start soliciting bids, who might give me better prices? Is there a company that gives consistantly good deals?

Many dealers, for Leader in my area, are offering 15% off on orders placed by May 20, or 24th. That adds up to a decent amount.

It also depends on how much mainline you are buying. If your only buying 1 to 2 thousand feet they probably won't give you a deal. Last time I bought 7,000 feet I got about 5 cents a foot off.

If you are looking for the black mainline I have always got a better price going through a water pipe dealer like Ferguson or even your local hardware or farm store for the 1" and 3/4". Recently I paid 0.19/ft for 400' rolls of 3/4" just so you can compare.

Goodrichs was .17 a foot for 500 ft of 3/4 last I checked...but then again you have to pay sales tax in the Peoples Republic of Vermont...

Just went to Goodrich's (just west of st. johnsbury on rt 2) yesterday, bought 2000 ft of 1" at .2172 a foot and 4000 ft of 3/4" at .155 a foot. No sales tax. I bought 1000 ft rolls. Definately worth the 2 1/2 hour drive each way.

Goodrich's prices are quite a lot better than I've been able to find around here.

I'll be buying approximately 1,000 ft of 1-1/4", 4,000' of 1", 4,000' of 3/4 and around 5,000 ft of 1/2".

That oughta get me some good discounts.

Larry, this is black mainline pricing. 30P is discounted right now, though, like I said earlier.

ibby, why so much main? got a new bush? id say 1/2 is going to be a pain to work with dont you think?

And im going to buy a 500ft roll of the 30p to try it and see how i like it, but all my other woods are with black pipe
