This was my first year with vacuum, I have an old delaval 73
I'm getting 22in at the releaser. My question is when should I run the pump?
I had it hooked to a temperature switch so when it hit 32 degrees it would come on. The tap holes seem to dry up quickly and from what I have been reading, the pump is supposed to run continuous, is that true? For this year I just got a new gas 1 1/2 horse power oiless rotary vein, anybody have any experience with these? I bought this so I could run it continuously the day of tapped until the end of the season, is that the way you run it, 24 - 7?

I know people that done shut there pumps off till it hits 25 because with vac u can still get flow at cooler temps, but the best thing i think is to keep the vac running all the time if ur on electic so when u shut the pump off the sap dont go flying back into the hole with contaminated sap from the drop line, just what i think, i run gas so its hard to keep the pump running all the time im going to try hooking up a big tank to run the gas engine for next year and run check valve on a new section im doing
