I don't have one yet hopefully soon though but I am looking for a 2x6 wood fired arch and I have tons of pine from the ice storm in NH last year. but what is a good size to cut it and split it to? And if anyone is selling a 2x6 raised flue I would like to know!!!!

My 2x6 has about 28 inches from the door to the drop flues. I cut my wood at about 18 inches and split it down to the size of my wrist maybe a little bigger. I believe the smaller the better in diameter. You might fire more often but you get alot more heat out of it.

I cut most of my wood 16" but it can be as much as 24" long. I use a lot of limb wood and don't measure it as carefully as I do the big stuff for the furnace. I also split it small as I can get it with the wood splitter.

On my 2x8 which is same size firebox, I cut it 16 to 18 inches. If I end up with some longer or shooter, it burns just the same but strive for that size wood.
