View Full Version : Forced air in back or front?

Looking for any comments pro's or cons people have. Mine is currently fed from the back but I am thinking of moving it to the front for two reasons. Seems like I can get better evaporation from my flue pan, all the way towards the stack and to keep some of the wood ash from being blown out the doors while loading.

I suggest looking at/searching various threads on this. There has been a lot of discussion, including by some who have been involved with designing commercially produced forced draft arches.

I put mine in the back and the natural draft that I get from my 17' stack pulls enough heat back to make my flue pan boil hard enough so that it boils in the float box. I wouldn't want it in the front where I would be tripping over it.

I think the blower is best in the back facing the front. That way some of the heat and gasses need to do a 180 and then head to the flue pan.

Ours is in the back too. "turbulence" in the fire box. Rather than straight through and up the stack.
