I recently learned that our church is sponsoring collection boxes for our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. I'm sure that many organizations across the continent are sponsoring such drives. Requested items include non-perishable foods and toiletries. We decided to throw in a couple of jugs of syrup. This transcends any politics. Imagine our men and women serving in a hostile environment, enjoying a little treat from the woods back home. Where on earth would your syrup be more appreciated?

The NH Maple Producers Association has been doing that for a few years. Half pints are the size to send. NH producers donate the syrup and the troops love it.

I was in the first gulf war. Anything from home was very much appreciated.
By all means, send the syrup.
If you can find a way to do it, use Frisbees instead of packing material. We used to love playing Frisbee golf. Water balloons were a good way to beat the heat (hint).

You’ve inspired me, think I’ll get off my butt and get something in the mail.
