Hello fellow Mass Maple Members, Just a few items from your President.
some things that are happening in Mass Maple.
Research for pesticides as preventative measures in the Worcester area ALHB are being done. We are looking into the future of tapping in that area due to injections to surrounding trees.
Mass Maple is looking into a Grading school(seminar) for our members, which will include, grading your syrup, density and taste. All these things are what make grading your syrup correctly so important. many times producers bring their syrup to bulk dealers,a contest or even bottled for their customers with incorrect grade labeling, density etc.
We will be changing our website, eventually with a whole new look and online features such as registrations and other needed forms.
We will have new areas for guests and producers. A nice change, I'm sure you will enjoy the site. More info to follow
The Mass Maple assoc. is also working on a Scholarship Program for young adults for money towards college. this will be for Seniors in High school as well as under graduate students of Agricultural families.
We are looking for a volunteer to host the summer picnic this year, Last year it was held at Leon Ripleys Farm in Blandford/Granville
Mass Maple will help with the planning of the event, A great way to showcase your maple operation. it does not have to be held AT your farm, maybe a nearby sportsmans club or hall, with tours to your place?
Any questions email me at jim@desjardinsmaple.com or Tom at info@massmaple.org
We hope to have more great things happening
Any questions can be directed to me through email or my Cell 413-246-2813
