Has anyone ever had any problems with the 30P pulling off of a fitting? I had two pull off last season.

With the good prices this year I'm thinking about tubing a new section and wondering if I should use this tubing.

thanks

I have used almost every brand tubing made at some point and never had an issue with 30p more than any other tubing. Had a few of all come apart at one time or another. Usually something hit the line a limb or deer.

I found that the older fittings don't work well with the rigid because the barbs aren't big enough.

For the record, Bascom's has blue & grey 30P 5/16" rigid tubing on sale for $40.50 per roll from today till May 20.

Is there any difference between the blue & grey?

Use Leader fittings with the 30p--they have larger barbs on them

Leader is offering 10% discount to all their dealers on 30p 5/16 and all the 30p mainline is also 10% off the much lower prices in the spring/summer catalog.

Bascoms open house filer has 30p on sale for $40.50 a roll ! Down from $56.00, Not a bad price. A couple of years back there was a pure white tubing that we used for drops. It was the best, never had any problem of any kind with it!! But can't find it any more. It must have been to good, so it was pulled of the market! Does anyone know what it was? I can't remember.

I use the 30p for main lines on short run tubing. I had the lines so tight this year that I had 4 or 5 connections come off due to the excessive change in temp. I had to back off a little on the tension. I also think animals may have caused a couple disconnects. All in all I am pleased with the 30p.. Seems to clean up nice. I use Leader TEE's and spouts and CDL green end TEE's, CDL end rings and CDL hook fittings.

NH Maplemaker, The white drop line that Leader had was called "Memory Flex".

They still have it in light blue, its called Memory Flex. It is the same as the white, but the white was discontinued. I was bummed as well! I like the white stuff.

Its odd to me that they discontinued it, especially after seeing that they make 30p in light green now. BTW, you can get rigid 30-p in white if you ask for it, it is not advertised however.

In my opinion 30p is the best for the money. I have 30p thats been up since they started making it in 1991 or so, still looks like new. Had some that pulled off fittings over the years but nothing major, maybe 6 times.

Mark, Thank you for the info! I will check out the light blue memory flex, If it's half as good as the white I'll be happy. Jim L.

The white tubing you are referring to might be the translucent/clear 30p. I would like to give some of it a try but Randy told me they only run it off in 100 rolls at a time as a special order and don't stock it. I really like the translucent/clear lappiere tubing.

I haven't tried the translucent from Lapierre but some of the light blue 5/16 and I found that it is difficult to see sap movement because the tubing isn't translucent enough unless you have a sunny day when your chasing vacuum leaks. Also, if you compare the outside diameter of Lapierre to 30P, the 30P has a larger diameter. More interior volume for better sap flow.

Brandon, I think Mark is right! The tubing that I have is white and was made by Leader. The name memory flex sound right. I will check at Bascoms to see if they have any of the translucent. Jim L.

Going to pick up 4 rolls of the 30 P (5/16") before the sale is over.

is there any difference between the blue and the grey besides the color?

Call Leader and ask for Randy. I was told a couple weeks ago that you could get the white memory but you have to ask for it.

Just color.

Liz Bascom said the blue was a little easier to see through.

Got 2.25 per pound for some commercial too.

Did you happen to ask what they were paying for the other grades?

Homestead,

No. My wife went down there and she didn't ask about other grades. But givem' a call at (603) 835-6361 to find out.

She was happy that the guy came running out and whisked two full 5-gal drums and one partial drum out of the car and into the building and gave her three good-looking empty drums to replace them.

OK, I thought that what you got for commercial was very good considering that some others were only giving $1.90.

I suppose Perry made his wife load the full ones in the car and then graciously helped her unload the empty ones when she got back home.

No Ken. I figure having the wife move syrup drums around helps keep her in shape for hauling sap.

But I did unload the syrup check all by myself.

I sent Randy Gaudette an email a few weeks ago concerning the white 30p. They do make it and sell it, but only for special orders of 100 rolls or more.
