View Full Version : Syrup Barrel Volume
I'm sure this question has been answered at some point on this site but I can't seem to find the answer so here goes: How many gallons of syrup does a galvanized syrup drum hold? I have heard answers from 30 to 33.75. Anybody out there have the right answer. Thanks.

Don't know if it is right, but I have always been told that a maple barrel is = to 31 gallons. This applies to syrup drums, gathering tanks and storage facilities.

and beer kegs! A full keg=31, half=15.5 and 1/4=7.75.
you will have to give measurements. galv comes in different sizes.the volume measure is 31.5 gal. but drums depends on size. ive filled galv. drums in 15,31,40,50 and 55

Same problem with 5 gallon buckets. Last year I filled buckets to the very top and sealed and after cooling and shrinking and stacking they leaked and I think I was giving away a quart of syrup per container. This year I filled a bucket with mesured liquid and found that most of the buckets 5 gallons was about ware the handle attaches. after filling 20 buckets and two 55 gallon drums I predicted 220 gallons and was off by one. Its like on a McDonalds cup there is a line that says full serving to this line 2" down Could you fill with water and get it weighed and do the math?
