I promised the Boss I'd ask all you folks who have sugar shacks, (as we're looking to build):
Do you have "off season" ant issues with all the sweet seam that somthers all the building's interior?
Thanks! (please say no)
Pete

I have never had a ant population in my sugar shack and I spill my fair share of syrup.

Gotta say I never thought about it before but I don't think I have ever seen an ant in the sugarhouse but I see them in the house. Weird.

I've had ants the last 2 summers that chew wood in the rafters of the sugarhouse leaving dustpiles below. Tiny guys, 1/8 inch, that are not carpenter ants. Wiped them out with ant baits. They don't seem to be after sugar residues near the arch at all.

Ian,
I think that I got to do the same ant bait thing myself. I thought that I had em licked last year but they are back.
