MY RO has three pumps, an infeed pump, a high pressure pump and a circulator pump on the membrane.

The circulation pump puts a spin on the sap as it enters the membrane sort of like the tornado that you see in a drain. It keeps the sugar moving so that it doesn't just sit there and clog the entrance to the membrane.

I'm pretty new to this 'real' RO stuff as I just picked mine up this weekend.
On this 180 GPH unit the feed motor seems to it about 50-55 psi.
The high pressure pump on this has 2 sections, one for the high pressure that tops out at 300 psi but normal running would be 250. The other section of this pump just recirculates the sap withing the high pressure membrane circuit.
The high pressure required depends on the specs of the membanes in the system. Some run a 450 psi. It depends.

My RO has a "General Pump TT-9071". It is the same pump that you would find on a high pressure spray washer. Also has a stainless steel low pressure pump that looks as though it would be expensive to replace.
