I'm heading to TSC tomorrow and plan to pick up some milkstone remover to clean my pans. I have a 2 1/2 x 10 evaporator. Any ideas on how much I need to clean the pans two more times? My pans hold 40- gals of water when I clean them. Is there a specific ratio water/ remover that works best? Thanks for the help.

I usually dump about a quart in the syrup pan and maybe 2 qts in the flue pan of my 2 1/2 x 8. I never measure just dump. More seems to work quicker.
I went to TSC a few weeks back to stock up on milkstone remover they were out and had none on order. Ended up getting white vinegar. It works but not quite as good as the milkstone remover.

I put 1/2 gallon the my 2x3 syrup pan and 1/2 gallon in my 2x5 flue pan.
PS If they don't have it in the store, they will special order it for you at no extra charge and have it within a couple of weeks. It went from $ 7.83 a gallon to $ 11 this year.

Try the 6% vinegar its stronger and almost the same price.
