Looking to buy a galvanized stock tank for my collection tank at my releaser. Looking for something over 400 gallons...500 would be nice. I like the stock tanks becuase they're low profile and easy to clean. Would go stainless, but can't afford that yet. Where can I buy them locally? Having a hard time finding them online as well.
I noticed TSC sells a 550 vert. poly tank which would work in regards to height and capacity, but my experiance this year is the poly tanks build up bacteria faster and the access hatch isn't very big so I don't see how you could get it very clean, especially mid-season.
Thanks

Josh
TSC has galvanized stock tanks that are round and hold a lot more gallons.
2x4 oval = 103 gallons
2x6 oval = 169 gallons
3x8 oval = 294 gallons
6 round = 389 gallons
8 round = 706 gallons
They have a 10’ round but no gallons listed.

Thanks Tucker. The 8' round would work, and then some. The 6' round wouldn't give me enough extra capacity. There were days when the 300 gal tank was running over for a while. Not sure if the 8' round would fit...it's a little tight with trees where I have it now. A round end tank would be preferable if I can find one. Now that I think of it a 500 gallon min. capacity would be needed. I'll be adding another 50-75 taps this summer.

I hook 300 gal stock tanks together with 3/4" braided hose. A stainless 3/4" adaptor screwed into the bottom drain, use teflon tape, 3/4" hose and a quick couple to seperate them quickly. Works well for me.

Having sap freezing in the pipe concerns me. If that happens you lose half your capacity and may not thaw out in time when things start running again. I did it this year but made sure I emptied it every night if it was going to freeze.

Thanks Keith. Just called them. They can get a 3x2x10 holds 385 gallons for $302. They're going to call their supplier to see if they can get one bigger.

Glad I could help you out. If you hear of any one getting rid of a releaser. I'm looking for one. Eric set me up with a vac pump. So next year vac on every thing.

Good deal. What kind of pump? There's a thread someplace on making a homemade releaser. Not sure if it really works, or if it does, how well. I think it was just PVC pipe risers or something.

Tractor supply also sells bulkhead adapters, Revi put one in his tank up high and into an overflow tank that way the overflow didn't have liquid in it unless it was running over, no freezing.

Good call Tessier...that'd work.
