ever had a problem with plastic giving off a weird flavor in the sap in the storage tanks?

ummm, no. I only use food grade plastic, and I never check the flavor of the sap. I just check the flavor of the syrup.

Are you talking about the odd flavor/odor of new tubing? This was my first time installing large amounts of 5/16, and we could definitely smell something which I can't describe. It doesn't bother me, since I know everyone putting it up has the same situation as me. I don't believe it adversely affects the flavor.
