I have three 1/2" mainlines with 40-50 taps on them. I'm hoping to put in a 1" line to connect them and add some 3/4" branch lines (off the 1") then put the whole thing on vacuum. I've heard that 1/2" is a no-no with vacuum. Will it be a problem with this few taps? Worst case scenario is i don't get good vacuum at the tap?
Thanks
Steve

I have some 1/2" lines with 50 or so taps and I get decent vacuum on them.

Ive had same result. Ran half inch a long ways temporary last year and picked up like 50 taps, didnt even put it on wire and it worked good. Just did it becouse didnt have time or money to do anything else. Ran 150 taps like that this year on three quarter for same reason. Worked better then if I hadnt tapped them. Theron

I also have two end of line sections with 1/2". each has 20-30 taps with great results. One of them even feeds a 12' sap ladder with 20 tap on it. Theron said it the best, better than not taping.

I also have two 1/2" sections of mainline that have 20 +/- taps on each branch...vac runs 22" at relaser, 19 or so at the end of these lines...

I'm with the other guys. Have some short sections of 1/2 inch out at the ends. It isn't optimal but it beats having a length of 5/16 100 feet long (or 2 or 3 of them). Vacuum on the one of them I checked was 18". I had 22" at the releaser which is almost 3000 feet away and 4 sap ladders in between.

My feeling is if you have some 1/2" already and you have some spots where you have a few trees that are not nearby you will get better vac transfer with 1/2" then if you run the same distance with 5/16"
