Orlon Filters

I used the orlon filters and the prefilters for the first time yesterday. It was suggested to have them wet which makes sense and to warm them up in steam which turned out to be hard to do with my system. I today used the microwave and warmed the wet filter up nice and warm and then used it. My syrup ran through right away draining completely. Has anybody else tried this.
Also which prefilter is best the paper of the polyester ones.
