Walking Pan?

I found myself in a conversation today with a refrigeration tech in my store who overheard me mention my sugar shack and struck up a conversation about his days past spent maple sugaring. He was talking about his old english tin evaporator pan that he referred to as a "walking pan". I think he was talking about what we'd all describe as a divided pan. I've never heard this term used before. Has anyone else?
