Does anyone have an idea as to the capacity of a surge alamo 75 plus dairy pump in cfm? This pump is slightly too small for my operation and I would like to look for a larger one this summer but I need to know how much air this one is moving first.

I am not sure of the total number of taps you have but a surge 75 plus is 75 cfm. Each of the surge pumps like the 50+,75+,100+ the number is the cfm the pump should be.I run a 50+ 22" of vac. on 1000 taps and have no problems.A 75+ should be good for up to 3000 taps or more.

I only have 950 taps and the pump can't keep up. It is not the original motor and I wonder if the RPMs are correct on the pump. Do you have any idea of the recommended pump rpm?

It needs a 5hp min.And should run at 1750rpm.Might need new veins.

The motor should turn 1725 RPM, the pump should be just under 1000 RPM . Your Alamo 75 should give you about 30 CFM , enough for 3000 taps 10 CFM Per 1000 taps. Have fun !!

There are rebuild kits for surges on Ebay for about $250.00 includes veins, bearings and seals. or check out hamby supply. Surges are real easy to rebuild.

The pump was supposedly just rebuilt. It has a 5 hp motor but it is only 1000 rpm. (first one of these that I have ever seen) I will check the pulley ratio. I was told that the motor was a replacement, so I am now fairly sure that the pump is running too slow. Thanks for the help !!!!!!!
