Has anyone checked it lately. It sure seemed to take a long time to get the syrup going today. And I'm tired I've had too much fun. About ready to pull the taps. I've only been making B syrup for three days now.

Our year has been horrible for sugar content last year we started at 3.2 and stayed high until the sap quit on us. This year we started at 1.8 and now are at 1.5 but here is the odd part, we made medium consistantly until the middle of last night and then made about fifty gallons of light amber. We thought there was something wrong with the hydrometer but it turns out it is just light amber. I'm not complaining just a little baffled.

Sugar over here has not been over 1½% this entire season. On a half pint that makes for a long day.
Counted it all up this evening. 387 gals sap, 48 hours of boiling, but we do have just a squeak over 5 gallons of med amber syrup to show for it all so far.
Hope we get another week or so, but it's not looking too good today, just way too warm for this time of year.

Man, I wish I knew. All I really know is I've been about 50:1 all season.
