View Full Version : Syrup Hydrometer temp compensation chart.

Does anyone have the temp compensation chart for the hydrometer. I can't seem to find mine and i looked on here and the one brent so nicely uploaded goes to a broken link. I know it worked at one point because i printed from that link. Any help is appreciated.

temp syrup density (baume)

209 - 32.0
202 - 32.25
193 - 32.5
185 - 32.75
176 - 33.0

I added a Brix chart and put all four charts into one file per the attached.


* Temp compensation: Brix
* Temp compensation: Baume
* Baume to Brix conversion
* Brix to Baume conversion

If you have a accu cup from The Maple Guys, just call them for another chart.

I dont understand these charts.

A hydrometer has a "hot test" mark, and says test at 210 degrees. I am testing it when it coomes off the evaporator at 219. Should I be making some sort of compensation for that higher temperature?

that chart is for 60 brix. Isnt syrup 66?

i too am a little confused i was told where i bought my hydrometer its finished not at the line but when its at about the "O" where it says "hot test" on the paper

No compensation required. If you were truly measuring the syrup at 219 deg, then technically it should by 31.75 instead of 32.0, but they figure that the syrup rapidly cools from 219 as soon as it goes in the cup.

Never heard that. I always heard that it's syrup when you can just barely see the red line above the syrup.
