Great bonehead moves in maple history.

Tonight after a 12+ hour boil, I saw an amber bead on the filter tank. Took my finger and wiped it, and the tongue did the rest. At first I was mesmerized.....where is the maple flavor? Started to think we were making crap and then I looked up! Our sugarhouse is built from rough cut pine and hemlock, the sap from the white pine was leaching out of the timbers from the extreme heat and a drop fell on the lid of the filter tank. Im still trying to get this crap out of my mouth!!

All those years your parents spent teaching you not to put strange things in your mouth... RUINED!

On the upside, free pitch! For, um, whatever pitch needs you may have....

Some day in the way distant future, they find a large chunk of fossilized amber pitch from who knows where... but the find a sugarmaker frozen in time as if he was standing in front of something..... it's the beginning of the new movie!!!

My wife is even getting in the digs....there was a glob of some clear goo on the windshield today, and she suggested that I taste it, it might be maple syrup!
