Should I use teflon tape when installing a valve on a new pan? Will it mess up my syrup?

I use it on my fittings. I don't think theres a problem using it. If there is its news to me.
The same teflon tape is used on all my plumbing that brings water to my faucets, and I drink the stuff!

The fitting on my new evaporator have the heavy duty teflon tape on them. The pink stuff. I have not seen any problems with it so far. I did unscrew the drain pipe on my flues once after a boil and the tape showed no sign of any melting.

I used the white teftape on mine 20 years ago.
It is also used on hot & cold domestic plumbing, so I think it's safe.

considering its the same stuff on the bottom of your frying pan and dosn't kill you off. I use the tape on boilers also so it takes the heat as my boilers run on glycol instead of water.
