For years we boiled on a couple of homemade aluminum pans. We were making about 30-40 gallons of syrup a year and never cleaned the pans until the end of season. If that created a problem we were unaware of it.

I've now got a SS 3 x 8 partioned, flat pan and will be shooting for producing 60+ gallons of syrup. How necessary will it be to clean the pans during the season? What will likely happen if I don't?

If I absolutely DO need to clean it during season and want to leave the pan in the woods, are there any good suggestions for using the minimum amount of fresh water/chemicals/vinegar while leaving the pan where it sits?

i boiled once on sunday and had to clean the nitre out on monday take a 5 gal bucket ofwater up and use half of it in the pan and tilt the pan tword a draw off use the scrub brush and dip into the pool of water near the draw off to clean all the pan, then rinse w/ the other half of the bucket (take pan off stand it up on end and throw the water on it) thats what i did monday, if its just nitre, but if its sugar sand thats stuck to the pan you will have to work a little harder

With that size pan and the amount of taps you have, you wouldn't need to clean it at all during the season. Key word is need or have to. If you want to make lighter syrup during the season, then you would want to clean it. If you are not concerned about the grade of the syrup, then you should be fine until season end.
