Unbeknownst to me, my thermometer had quit over the summer so I "over-cooked" a small batch of sap a few weeks ago.

I made syrup that is thicker than honey and has a slight crunch to it, LOL.

Now, it's starting to slowly crystalize in it's container.

My question; can it be added to fresh/hot sap and re-boiled into maple syrup?

Has anyone ever tried to do this?

Thanks in advance.

Yeah, it worked.

I just stirred the "damaged" syrup into a pot of hot of sap.

All of the crystals melted within 60 seconds and within a few minutes I had 218 degree brand new syrup.

Looks clear and tastes great.

Thanks glassman.
