Advice on Draining Pan

I searched for answers to this question.. couldn't match anything. I have sand in all three sections of my 2 x 3 pan.. won't be boiling for two days... should I drain and clean it? Or is it better to keep my gradient?

you can drain your gradient than wash your pan than pour gradient back in
