Ok I recieved my new refractometer thanks to Kevin.. and it's real nice. I now need to learn how to read it. I understand how to do the sample, just wondering how to calculate the sap % of sugar.. the scale is 1-10 % brix.. is that the same as 1-10%sugar? so if the scale line is at 2% brix.. is that my sugar content? is it as easy as that? I put a little syrup in some water to dilute it down, then put a drop on the lens and read 1.9% brix.. so does that mean if that was sap it would be 1.9%?then rule of 86= 45.26 gals of sap for 1 gal syrup.
