the steam hood is in two parts the upper part will telescop into the venting giving me more clearance above the evaporator

The lower part of the stem hood holds the pre-heater there is 32 feet of tubing

I also shortened the fire box with a shelf. http://monz.smugmug.com/photos/487217952_nR3uz-M.jpg
We'll have to see how every thing works out this season. it looks like we are back into clod weather for awhile here.

OK now that I have had one run through the new setup here are some observations.
- the sap is coming out of the pre-heater at 185, every hour or so I was opening the release valve on top to drain some air no lock up but it seemed to have been needed.
- I need to add a drain cock to the bottom of the pre-heater to drain it after a session to avoid freezing and having the sap sit in it.
- the two piece steam hood worked fine I had way more condensate the in previous years this may be having the pre-heater in there.
- the telescoping steam stack worked great but leaks condensate onto the hood, this gave me something to do between firings.
- had a really fast boil in the front of the pan over the fire less so over the smoke shelf, I'll add channels into my flat pan next year.
- I think I was getting about 12 gph so quite happy with that for now.

Everything that you have built and rebuilt looks very nice and professionally done.

Thanks for the kind words.
I will be posting some more photos as I have added windows to the steam hood and a light. I will have to see how they work while hot this weekend as I am frozen up for now.
