i know there has ben a lot of talk on here about venting preheaters i going to vent mine but was wondering where i should vent it or does it not matter

Most people suggest you vent the preheater at the highest point of the outlet before going into the float box or evaporator, that is if you have your sap go in the low end and come out the high end of your preheater tubes, assuming you have enough head pressure from your tank. I have seen others who vent with a petcock valve going into the floatbox with a constant drip.Orginally I did not vent my preheater, but after a vapor lock and a close call I installed a vent at the high end of the tube which is the outlet before the going inot the float box.

On the high side were the air gets trapped. just like in a house with radiator heat anytime they get air locked you open the vent on the top of the radiator. Did you make yours on a slant as discussed in the forums if so on the high side
