Just curius how often others stoke or add wood to their fire?

I normally set a timer for 15 minuts to remind me to add wood.

set a timer for every 6 to 8 minutes, dont fill firebox checkerblock full, leave room for fire/gases and air to mix, keep wood split to about the size of your wrist and you will get a much hotter fire

I keep my firebox full side to side but just over half full bottom to top. I add wood every 5 minutes buy the clock. Add just what is needed and do not have the door open any longer than needed. Give the fire all the air it will take thru the draft door or by draft fan. If draft fan experiment what is best for your rig.

I just watch my boil, if it starts to slow, add wood, usually 5- 10 minutes.

Sounds like me, fire between 5 to 10 minutes dsepends on the boil..Works much better when you leave some room in the firebox as stated. Happy Boiling 18x48 DandG HOBBY EVAP

I use a stack thermometer and when it drops 50 drg I fire. When I am running a 500 stack temp all is well. It takes about 1 1/2 hours to get it to 700 but then it is really humping.
