I work with a state funded sugar operation and we have 4 main lines 3/4 and the 4 of then have about 35-40 taps each.My question is one of the guys I work with wants to put a vent at the end of the runs. Good idea or bad?

It's unnecessary, nothing would be gained. I have one 3/4 mainline that is over 1,500 feet long with 300 taps on it. No vents and it runs fine. Many syrupmakers on here have lines alot longer than that with no venting as well. Spend the time adding a few more taps instead.

NO you will loose any natural vacuum thats created and probably get less sap flow because the air would get into the lats, and the sap in the lats wouldnt have as much drive to flow to the main, yielding less sap NO VENT DONT DO IT, FIST FIGHT HIM IF YOU HAVE TO!
