125 taps in West Suffield 2-28

I got all 125 taps in yesterday. The buckets dripped strong and filled the buckets 2-3". I went out this afternoon to check progress to find ice in the buckets. I hope to have enough sap to do a run Friday - looking for about 400 gallons before the run. If the temp warms up and I can get sap quicker, I'll fire sooner!

Well, that Grateful Dead title should read "Cold spell and snow" to be more accurate for this coming week...

Will there be much this week?

We had nothing flowing today at all. Though the sun did peek out for about an hour mid-day.

Well folks - not a bad season! I produced 287 half-pint bottles which is about 17.5 gallons of syrup! I had less sap than last year, not sure why. It seemed to start/stop on me and the weird thing was I had some trees where one side would fill the bucket and the other side would not drip at all...
