We finished tapping yesterday about about a half hour before dark. Then we took what little sap we had and worked the kinks out of the new evaporator and had a few barley pops. Good time had by all.

Yep I'm still setting taps the sap crew is crying already after 2 pick-ups. They were bumed when I informed them we are not even 1/2 way tapped. Boiled off 200 gals today and got over 5 gals of syrup in the bucket, the pans were sweet from last weeks 150 gal boil. Now we need that 300 gals a day routine to get going.

We are in the Grand Rapids area and put out our 52 taps on Saturday, February 28. Based on the weather reports, we are hoping we get decent sap runs Wednesday thru Friday and to start boiling on Saturday, March 7 on our new Leader 2x4.

I dont want to tap any earlier than I have to. I am going to get tubing put out this week end. I dont know if I will have time to tap or not. Most likely, I will end up tapping after work during the week next week.

One guy who wants to sell me sap is tapping now. The problem wiht that is my evaporator is so big that I cant fire it up for only a couple hundred gallons, so I might have to tap something before I would like to.

I finished putting the rest of my taps out today. I've got 107 taps out. Mainly using sap-bags. I have about another 25-30 trees I could tap, but Sugarbush Supplies was out of more sap-bag holders. Oh well, maybe next year.

I put out 20 of 70 on tubing (trying it for the first time) last night. Only had an hour of day light to work with. I am in Honor. Its about 25 miles west of traverse city.

Well we set 130 taps last nite. I think we will hold at 320 taps for a week before we add anymore. I don't want to be overwhelmed with sap and get flusterated. This is to be fun right???

Boy, I thought there would have been a lot more sap in the buckets this morning. Only about a quart each. Now tonight there was more, but I thought yesterday it would have ran more. Maybe just me.

Sap did not start running until about 3:00 pm today. I thought for sure I would need to collect this afternoon but only an inch or so in each bucket by dark.

I hope it really goes tomorrow.

Rick where ar you located? Our run started about ten and it seems to still be going strong. When I got off a jobsite at two I went down to find the raquet ball closing off the releaser and the wet pump we use for the releaser not running fixed it and were back in business again no idea how long it sat there like that but I do know it was too long.

Same here just a little disapointed with the volume of sap, the taps set last nite only gave about 1/2 gal for the 24 hrs. Even my sap cows were off the feed today. Oh well 250 of sap in the milk cooler,I'll cook it off Sat. Probably not much sap flow tonite or tomorrow. And it's my birthday so we'll go to town for supper. Gettin old at 49 haha.

If there is a lot of snow up against the tree, that will keep them cold, and they wont run much.

We need to get rid of this snow first.

Just my opinion

I am in Gladwin. We got about 1.5 gals per bucket total the last two days. I was hoping for more with the weather being warm. Oh well, I better be careful what I ask for!

of the twenty i set yesterday i got on an average two and a half gallons in twenty four hours, per tap. a couple had more. the ones i tapped on wednesday didnt do quite so well but not as bad as i thought with the warm night.
