Looks like its going to get cold for a few days with this snow we are going to get tonight. I may wait till next monday to get them in.
We were going to tap this weekend, but then I got sick and the weather turned snowy. We'll tap next weekend for sure.

Waiting on the forcast to look right but I'm leaning towards the 7th, may do some next weekend weather pending. My brothers woodlot usually runs a week or so ahead of my trees so I may do his next weekend and mine the following.

never got out of the 20's today. Wish I could tap before the 12 of March but it would be a waste of sap if it ran. Good luck to all of you.
Scott, if your bush gets a lot of sun I would tap this Thurs, can't hurt. No news yet on the barrels.

well we got all our drops into the tubing today tightened everything up and ran them into the barrels. got all our buckets in place, and even tapped one just to see what would happened. it was cold this morning so i figured it would take a while for the tree to warm up. but sure enough by about 12:30 we noticed it was running. the sugarbush is very sunny, so we will be putting all 80 in tomorrow and hopefuly get a couple days. im all fired up now, been waiting for this for a while now. good luck everyone.

Took advantage of an outstanding day and tapped my 60 trees around mid-afternoon. Sap was flowing as the drill was coming out. Hope the weather holds for a couple days before the Nor'easter coming in Sunday. Might have something to boil during the storm. What a great feeling to be outside doing something I have always wanted to do.

Good luck to all on the season. I plan to start tapping this weekend. I have too many none maple things going to get much done this week. Lucas Tree was pruning the power lines on our road last week and as always they trim some on every maple. Usually they drip quite well but today only a few were dripping. We were only 4 above here this morning and it never did feel very warm. lots of snow still stuck on trees branchs and everything else from Sunday nights storm.

We're tapping this weekend too. It doesn't feel like we've missed any, and our sugarhouse is up at around 800 feet and faces north, so it runs later anyway.
I'm psyched to start the season.

Was 40 degrees here today it is now 28.9 degrees at 11:37 pm. guess i will tap by sat. the latest and see what happens will atleast tap the roadside trees first then think about battlin the deep snow out at the wood lot to get to those trees not much sun out there yet!
I think they'll be dripping tomorrow. The temp is supposed to drop a bit, and then warm up tomorrow. Right now it's got to be 40 or so, and cloudy. 40 and sunny should get those trees to go. We're tapping tomorrow!

Keep me posted as to the amount of sap that you get so I can tap. Right now we are still looking at the 11th or 12th of March. If we miss the first run it's OK. Snow is deep here and the rain and warm temps will help it to settle so it will be easier to walk in. Go get them.

I just got in from drilling 50 holes, nothing running yet but it was still pretty cold this morning. I stopped at a farm that I drive by on the way home and asked about tapping a few of his maples and he gave me another 50 or 60 acres to tap If I would like. I will be adding some taps though.
We got the tubing trees tapped for the most part. We have around 200 in now. Nice day, but very deep snow! I fell on my snowshoes and had to pull myself out with a tree at one point. I have fallen and I can't get up...
Jason Tessier stopped by at around mid day and he told us about his tapping.
Absolutely nothing dripping at all here. Just sawdust coming out of the tapholes.
Lots of trees have grown in, so we have some more taps to put in now.
It was a great day to be out there in the woods. Blue sky, a little wind moving the treetops. A nice winter day. Now we need some spring days!

Tapped about 200 Sat afternoon. Planned to get a bunch more done today but didn't workout too well. Did get the last of the repairs done and about 50 more tapped. Long way to go. It's been snowing most of the afternoon and a foot for tonight and Monday. That will make it more fun for sure.

I got 70 in this weekend and took a walkabout through my newest bush. I plan to run about 300' of mainline and get another 50 or so taps on tubing next weekend. Another 35 on my woods trees either next weekend or the following, they always run latter than the rest anyway. Its getting to the point where I can't do it all in 1 weekend anymore. 110 buckets takes some time. The tubing is much faster and easier during tapping.

Was running this afternoon even on some of my woods trees. The season has begun.
The trees may be running today too. The forecast looks good for this week!
