Is it basically the same thing as dura-rock? Or cement board? I have some laying around, it goes over the fire brick on inside right?
Oh and rusted through sap buckets work awesome to re-tin an arch.

No, arch board is different. Think of a R-30 fiberglass insulation packed tightly down to a 1' thickness - just as light and just as easy to cut with a knife.

Cement board might work for insulating the arch if it is behind the brick. I'm not sure how fireproof it is though or if it will crumble under the heat. Others will have to chime in on that.

I think durarock has small round balls of foam all through it, but I could be wrong. Either way, it don't stand up very good in an open fire as I have put it in a burning fire before.
