View Full Version : dark wood
So if you are tapping and hit some wood that is not bright white what do you do? Do you drill somewhere else until you get white wood? Tree gets a pass this season? Leave the tap in if the wood is only a little tan?

First thing I do is make sure the help didnt see me dill into that Black Walnut we have all been admiring. If its 1 out of a 100 walk on by if its a 24" tree and its 1 of 10 move on over and tap it. Dont plug the tree leave it alone. If its pumping out sap taste it.......... if it doesnt taste like a lemon tree in she goes.

Drill another hole to put the tap in and don't worry about it. The tree isn't the healthiest anyway and you won't kill it by putting in one more hole.
