According to our expectations the season is half over here in SW Ohio. On Feb 17th we got 600 gallons out of 325 taps and stayed up til midnight evaporating. A friend showed up with 60 gallons to contribute to the cause. There was nearly a mutiny. I was glad to get to bed that night.

I sure hope we have a few good weeks left. I did get a surprise 40 gallons today with a quick warm up before the snow blew in. I think I am about on the same track as last year and my three biggest weeks were the last week in Feb and the first and third weeks in March. We will see what happens.

Geez. 550 gallons of sap in the tank. Another 350 to 400 gallons in the buckets out in the sugarbush. The 30" x 8' leader evaporator can evaporate 30 gallons an hour(no preheater). Do the math. We got a 22 year old friend to spend the night in the sugar house. All we have to do is feed him.

Hey Steve,
I stopped by again today and met your 22 year old slave! Dropped off some defoamer for Dan to try. Sorry that I keep missing you. You guys are rocking though. Sure is a ton of fun, it is what we live for. End the season strong my friend.
