Kevin.....Steppin up to the plate on this one with ??????????. Hp is hp gas or electric correct. With electric you have more of a constant horsepower and steady rpm at rated voltage and hertz. With gas, hp is rated at a specific rpm over its torqe curve. Do you use a larger gas motor to compensate for a rated hp at a lower rpm so your not screaming the engine and houling through fuel? If so you would need to set your gas engine to a specific rpm and know your driven pulley size and rpm of pump to figure out your drive diameter pulley. How do you know what hp your running at with say a 5-7 replacing a 2 electric. Do you set the engine rpms at 1/2 and go from there. Curios is all. cause i just picked up two more De Laval 75 from an auction that might need a conversion to gas.

Kevin, I have a five page chart that lists the Hp, rpm and cfm of almost every old vacuum pump made.
Heres the 73
.5 hp 620 rpm 5 cfm@ 15"
.75 hp 750 rpm 6 cfm@ 15"
1 hp 1000 rpm 8.5 cfm@ 15"
Heres the 75
1.5 hp 635 rpm 12 cfm@ 15"
2 hp 885 rpm 18.5 cfm@ 15"
I can scan it and email you or post it on here if someone wants it.

Jawin with a guy yesterday over pumps at an auction and he said that you can generally size the cfm of a pump by the hp of the motor. (electric) As long as someone didn't just plop a motor on a pump. Proportion in size is a good clue there though.
Looking at Sugarin42long's chart, it's pretty close: :)
.5 hp = 5cfm
.75 hp = 6 cfm
1 hp = 8.5cfm
So on and so on. So a 5 hp is close to 50, a 7.5hp is close 75cfm and a 10hp close to 100 cfm. Wow, we have a 30hp up at the farm, thats close to 300 cfm. 8O No wonder the cows are squinting and there tails are swung to the one side all the time. Man thats a lot a wind. Needless to say i didn't come home with anything new but i did learn a little something for the day.

Sorry for the delay getting that pump chart out to those who want it , I have been busy in the woods and working on my sugarhouse. I will get it out this week.
Also Whats the best way to email this document? I have a scanner but there are five pages. Is there a way to do this with a single attatchment or does each page have to be seperate?

If you can scan it together and put it in a PDF file format, it opens easily and emails easily with all the pages in one file. Might be able to save it in a .DOC format and nearly everyone can open that also.

$1,000,000 operation and he cant call somebody to figure this out. Heck if your that big buy one of every size and play around with em till it works for ya. i'm sure Maple Guys or Goodrich's oe etc. etc. could size something for them that's apropriate.

I think Kevin is just joking. He has been giving me a hand figuring out vacuum and tubing washers, etc. But if he is talking about me he should be using more of those smiley face things because I am far from a million dollar operation. Not even close to a million cents, but maybe he is talking about someone else. I would be interested in seeing the cfm chart though if you could do it Jim, but no hurry for me.

Ok I found it in another spot.. try this link, you will have to figure out their format but it's all there

if you read across it gives you .. model, motor size, pump speed, cubic feet/minute american, and new zealand, and liter/minute

That should be the one but you have to copy the WHOLE address... the software is not allowing the whole thing to show as a site.. so copy all of it and paste onto your browser bar... good luck... I WILL try to post it in my links on my site (after xmas)
