I thought it might be nice to hear from people on the neatest or oddest piece of

Rue Goldberg design or yankee engineering what ever you want to call it, you have seen from someone making maple syrup.

I think we all do it to save money at one time or another. I'm a little new at this so I have not seen as much as many of you. I have seen 15 gallon sanitizer barrels use for steam stack, they seem to work well too.

Dont give Rue any credit for doing anything he was a lazy bum its his brother RUBE that did all the nifty work.
My first evaporator part junkyard find was my biggest undertaking and it worked ok for batch syrup. Lasted 1 year and on the junk pile it went. Another aspairing syrup maker put it back in his woods and it lives on.

Rube Goldberg was a political cartoonist that won the pulitzer prize. He was best known for is cartoons of complex machines that performed simple tasks in a convaluted manner.

I remember discussions on here of a guy with like a 2'x24' homemade evaporator - with the idea of keeping all that heat under the pans before it went up the stack.

I have been told, on several occasions, that my middle name must be Rube.

And thats fine with me because I really don't like the sound of Rue.
