new flat filters

i just picked up some new flat filters for the top of my canner what should i do to them befor i use them

Wash them in hot water and let them dry and you are done.
We brought our filters in yesterday and wash all of them, pre-filters and the orlon filters.
They didn't smell from being out there, but just did it!!
