I use a Leader Springtech Elite 800 RO rated at 700 Gph. It is 8 years old, and is slowing down. We will be concentrating to 12% to 14%. I think it will be OK through this season but I want to be ready to replace the membrane if needed. The machine was made by Ariblo for Leader. Now Dominion and Grimm makes them. The membrane in it is a fluid systems TFC 8931S-600 8”X60”. Most ROs use 8”X40” or 4”X40” membranes. Neither Leader or Dominion and Grimm sell 8”X60” membranes now. They recommend one and one half Filmtec Mark 1 8”X40” membranes assembled together and installed in the 8”X60” vessel to the tune of $3,200! Or replace my 60” vessel with an 80” vessel and use two Hydronautics PVD1 membranes in it.
Joe at Atlantic RO www.formembranes.com will sell a Filmtec NF-90 8”X40” for $777 and a two foot spacer for $50. That would probably flow around 500Gph.
KOCH membrane systems made the original membrane in my machine and now sells what they say is a newer version of the same membrane a TFC 9833S-575 8”X60” for $900. They say they sold these to Airablo before D&G and to other maple producers in Maine and Vermont for use in their ROs.
Does anyone here have experience with KOCH or replacing 8”X60” membranes?
Tim
