Will it work? I broke it with a 1x1 inch trough on the inside.. http://i.pbase.com/o6/98/18098/1/108726847.8GYIck9K.steamhood53.jpg
This is where I am going to cook this year.. It is at least out of the rain.. Plus as you can see it is in the woodshed. I have a couple of cords of sassafras to use for cooking, burns hot and fast.
My pan is 8 inches tall. so that will fill a lot of the gap. I might have to brake a special funnel to pour into the pan though.. Not a problem though.

Eric,
The steam hood should work good. do you plan to set it right on the pan? Or keep it elevated above the pan>
Question I see you good pictures of sap bags any Idea if a 7/16 cast spout will work on these bags? P.M. Me

As of right now I am hoping I can leave some distance between the hood and the pan.. If the steam is not going up and away I will be forced to lower it.. I need to weld a tap onto my pan so I can drain it. But still I have to slide it off of the fire, and then cap the fire with a piece of tin. Once you have burnt syrup in a pan you will do whatever it takes to not repeat this mess.

Eric,
Steam should not be much of a proble with that hood and size of pipe. can it get good draft?
Yes be careful if you are sliding that big pan off the fire sounds much better with a drain!
Spile and sap sak question??

Dozer photos. LOL Seems I am the one that operates the dozer. As well as the one that takes the photos.. I will have to beg someone to take some photos.
It is nothing fancy an old Massey D300 4 cylinder non turbocharged. But it does a great job around the farm.
