Evaporator Setup question

I am finishing up setting up my 2x6 arch. I got it leveled and bricked and the blower hooked up. My question is when I fill behind the ramp with sand how far from the stack should I fill? My stack is approx. 13' high 8" pipe I figured on leaving 6" the full depth of the arch (about 6") Does this sound ok? It is a raised flue pan. Thanks Jeff

do you mean after the flue pan going out? if thats what your asking it doesnt really matter what happens past the flue pan. you dont want to restrict it but if its bigger than the area under the pan your OK.. When I built my oul arch the information I got from the evaporator Co was to make the area just past the flue pand deeper so the heat/gasses can flow down from the raised flues and out the back of the arch and up the pipe.
