I found Leader's 2009 catalogue and was researching RO machines. Looking at the spec's for the different RO's I saw there's two seperate pumps for each and I had a couple of questions. I'm going off memory from last night so I may not have everything correct. I think the starter pump was something like 3CV/230V and the pressure pump was 5CV. What do those numbers mean and what's the difference between the starter pump and pressure pump? Also are RO's from different manufacturers of comparable size going to have similiar load requirements? For instance will a 150gph RO require say 20 amps, a 300 gph 30 amps, and a 600gph 45-50 amps.
Thanks

My RO has 3 pumps, a 1 hp feed pump, a 5 hp pressure pump and a recirculation pump on the bottom of each column.

Orwell math got in the way again, I think you have 4 pumps.

We have a 150gph RO and it has three pumps, feed pump-pressure pump and a recir pump.
Ours runs on single phase 220/ 30 amp breaker and was told by Lapierrie that the pump was large enough to run at least one more membrane with out any increase to pump size

Thanks.
What does the 3CV or 5CV stand for?

Josh, I would guess that the 3 and 5CV stand for 3 and 5 hp. Not sure why sometimes they say HP, and CV others. Mine has a 1hp feed and 7.5CV(hp) pressure. Rated at 500gph and draws about 40 amps.

CV is the abbreviation for Cheval Vapeur. French for Horsepower.
