I have never seen a hose used between pans, most of the evaporators I have looked at are stainless steel pipe fittings. That is what I used on mine with a union to seperate the two.

The hose that you see clamped between the out side pipes usualy high heat hose. Has anyone ever used radiator hose yes will it kill you no should it be food grade yes. If you use a high heat hose that you think is going to taint your sap/syrup you can start by boiling it in water and then use some old syrup and boil the heck out of it.

My Grimm (Leader) 3x8 has copper between the pans but there is a short section of high heat hose. Do not substitute any thing for this that is not sold by an evaporator company. Too much liability. The 3x8 has a white hose and my old 2x6 had a black hose. The newer rigs use all SS.

On my drop tube or flue pans I use a brewers hose as a connection, its soft inside, foodgrade and good to 220 degress. $20. bucks a foot though.
