What should stack temps run with out blower

Hi all was just woundering what my stack temp should run around with out a blower on a 2X8. I know it depends how much wood you put to it. but would like to know whats the best temp. to try in keep.

I was told that for wood fired with forced air, the stack temp should be 850-1000 degrees. The guy said that he shoots for 900-950. But this is internal stack temp. he said that he used a probe thermometer in his stack
