My understanding is that Ohio has more suger makers per square mile in the northeast than anyother state. Not big producers but alot of little ones.

Not many producers here in VT follow the trader regularly. Some don't even know about it. In my town alone, there are 13 maple producers, and besides myself, there is only 1 other sugarmaker that uses this forum.

Russell Lampron

Mike Loudon NH is the same way. We have more producers than any other town in the state. I only know of one other producer in Loudon that uses this site but know that there are at least 12 producers maybe more. In March every street in town has trees tapped on it somewhere.

Cardigan99

Russ, here in Alexandria, I'd say there's an easy 8 - 10 sugar shacks (I'd have to guess a few dozen in the bordering towns). But there are only two of us on the trader that I know of.

I think we need a 'mapletrader.com' bumper sticker or something.

We have 8-10 producers in RI, mostly hobby or small farm stands.
Our climate is heavily affected by the ocean, we are only 10-15 miles from the ocean at my shack! I am in close contact with 3 other sugarers ranging from 150 taps to 1000+ on tubing. I am trying to get the word out about MapleTrader, it has been a very valuable source of info for me. Thank you!

I don't think Canadians, or Canadiennes, really want to part of the states. For that matter, some Quebecois might not even want to be part of Canada. So maybe, besides expanding "Other", we should list each Canadian Province.

Now I wonder, does anybody make maple syrup anywhere else besides North America?
