syrup by the pound?

Didn't know where to post this. What is a pound of syrup in Fluid ounces? In cooking in baking we say a pint is a pound the world around. Same with Syrup?

I would say it is around 11.5-12 ounces per pound. as syrup is a little over 11 lbs per gallon

pint's a pound the world around applies specifically to water. For water a fluid ounce and the weight ounce are the same. Fluid ounces measure volume, not actual weight. 1 fluid ounce is approximately 30 ml in volume. For your baking you need to decide if you want your syrup measured in volume or actual weight, I'm betting volume is the way to go. As always more syrup is better.

1 USG = 11.33lbs
1 USG = 128 floz
128 floz / 11.33 lbs = 11.3 floz/lb

I believe the pint's a pound the world around only applies to pure water at sea level. To measure a difference for elevation you would need very accurate and fine readings to see a difference however. Syrup is super saturated water which adds more weight per given volumn thus the numbers that were given above.
