Hook conector

I was just wondering how long should my 5/16 tubing should be going from the hook connector to the saddle?

The length of mine varies from about 10 inches to, in some cases, as much as 3 feet. The longer lengths are to bring two laterals into the same saddle or to bring a lateral to a convenient point on the mainline wire. Make sure the length is long enough that there is no kink but short enough so that the line doesn't sag between the connector and the saddle. My 2cents
