It all comes down to what your sugar bush needs. For example slope and distance. How far away your mainline is from your releaser etc.
Most mainlines if they are sized right only need a wet line. But when you get a long distance from the releaser wet lines end up slowing down the transfer of the vacuum. When this happens you lose your vac. in the far reaches of the bush. So in this case a dry line can be used. Which runs parallel to the wet line Every 500 to 1000 feet a conection is made vertically between the two with a diameter of atleast twice the dia. of the mainline and better off tripleling the dia. So if you have a 1" main line either a two or three inch vertical conection which will only allow air to rise and sap falls back down.
If you aleady have a bush on vac and you are getting good transfer then don't do anything. The best test tool is a small vac gauge on a rubber hose. Go around your sugarbush and pull a tap and stick the gauge over the tap. If you have basically the same amount of vac at the tap as you do at the releaser you are all set. But if you are losing more than a few inches then you need to either increase the wet line or add a dry line and in most cases it is easier to just add a dry line.
